John Kennedy H. Oliveira

September 22, 1963 - May 15, 2005

John Kennedy H. Oliveira, 41, of Osprey Drive, Berkley, died Sunday at home after a long illness. He is survived by his companion Edward J. (Ted) Higginson.
Born on September 22, 1963, in Virginopoils, Minas Gerais, Brazil, he was a son of Maria DaConceicao H. Coelho and Grijalva S. DeOliveira of Brazil. He was raised and educated in Brazil. While in Brazil, Mr Oliveira was an elementary school teacher, a professional actor and was actively involved in Carnival as a costume designer and performance artist.

He moved to Massachusetts in 1988 from Brazil and was a resident of Berkley for the past 12 years. In the United States he worked as a real estate broker at Rezendes Real Estate in Assonet. He was a member of the National, State, and Fall River Association of Realtors, and a member of the Little Theatre of Fall River.

In addition to his companion of twelve years Edward J. (Ted) Higginson and his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Tania H. DaSilva, Zariff H. DaSilva, and Vanessa H. DeOliveira, all of Brazil, three brothers, Jose S. DeOliveira, Grijalva H. DeOliveira, of Brazil, and Hercy DeOliveira, of Framingham and his sisters-in-law: Rugeria C. DeOliveira, and Sonja L. DeOliveira. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 8:30 am from the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Church, 30 South Main St., Assonet. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 18, 2005 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
