View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Ethel May (Arthur) Gainey, 100, of North Main St. Fall River, died Friday, April 29, 2005 at the Adams House in Fall River. She was the wife of the late J. Raymond Gainey. She was born November 5, 1904 in Fall River a daughter of the late Benjamin & Esther Ann ( Hampson) Arthur.
She was a secretary for the Metacomet National Bank, BMC Durfee Trust Company, Fall River National Bank for many years before retiring. She has lived in Fall River all of her life. She was a member of Credit Women’s Club, Career Club, member of the Fall River Music Club, graduate of BMC Durfee High School Class of 1932, graduate of Fall River School of Commerce, member of Fall River Garden Club, and also Fall River Womens Club. She sang in Church Choirs at the former Central Congreagtional Church, double quartet. She also loved to travel and collected Pig Figurines.
She is survived by 2 grandnieces Barbara Kaye of Cartersville Georgia, Nancy C Arthur of Fall River, several great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ralph W Arthur, and aunt of the late Ralph W Arthur Jr., the late Ruth Wood, and also the aunt of the late Reverend Alan Wood.
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 13, 2005 at 2:00pm in the Adams House 1168 Highland Ave. Fall River. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Calling hours and flowers are omitted.
