Lawrence R. Fitton age 89 of Parker St. Attleboro died Friday, May 6, 2005 in the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Claire F. (Gormley) Fitton. He was born in Attleboro on February 4, 1916 a son of the late Irwin R. and Louise (Lutz) Fitton.

He was a life long resident of Attleboro and a former communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro. He was the office supervisor for the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Attleboro for many years before he retired in 1983. Larry was the official "Town Crier" for the City of Attleboro and was a member of the Clowns of America under the clown name "Lookit". As a clown and the Town Crier he participated in the Attleboro Field days and many City parades. He was a member of the Attleboro Historical Commission and the Larsen Senior Center where he would drop by almost every day where he was well known and loved by all.

Besides his wife he leaves three sons Steven A. Fitton of Dallas, GA. Christopher J. Fitton of Palm Coast, FL. And Joseph E. Fitton of Attleboro, one daughter Patricia L. Reid of Plymouth, MA. Ten Grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Carl, Willard and Elmer Fitton.

Funeral Information

A Memorial Service in Celebration of his life officiated by the Rev. Dr. Daniel T. Dore will be held on Tuesday, May 10th at 5 PM in the "FOLEY CHAPEL" of the FOLEY-COOK-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOMES, 126 South Main St., (Route 152) Attleboro,MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may visit with the family from 4 to 5 PM before the service. At his request Larry’s body was donated to the Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.
