Jorge C. Ferreira

Jorge C. Ferreira, 83 of Church Avenue Taunton, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at Morton Hospital, Taunton. He was the husband of Maria Lurdes ( Spinola) Ferreira, they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was born Feb. 6 1922 in Funchal Madeira Island Portugal , a son of the late Manuel & Elisa ( Sousa) Ferreira Jr.

He was a Pharmacist for over 20 years for the Pharmacy Honorato in Madeira Portugal. He has been a Taunton resident since 1965 coming from Portugal.
Once he came to Taunton he worked in the George E Keith Shoe Company in Bridgewater for 20 years retiring in 1987. He was a parishioner of St Anthony Church. He was an accomplished Guitarist with the Folkloric Group of the Clube Madeirense S.S.S. Sacramento of New Bedford , and also with the group Folclorico of Taunton and the Dancas do Carnaval for over 20 years.

He loved to travel, and devoted quality time to his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, he was always well respected, admired and loved by his friends and family.

Besides his wife he is survived by a son Joel Ferreira of Taunton, 5 daughters Maria Teresa Ferreira of Taunton, Grace Robens of Taunton, Zelia Robens of Taunton, Maria ( Zezita) Maynard of Taunton, Angela Ferreira of Taunton. 9 grandchildren – Nancy Faria, Richard Robens, Michelle Haus, Marco Ferreira, Carlina Ferreira, Cathleen Robens, Samantha Maynard, Stephanie Robens, Alexander Maynard, 6 great grandchildren - - Xavier Faria, Selma Faria, Benjamin Haus, Cruz Faria, Nathaniel Haus, Evan Robens, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel Ferreira, Jose Ferreira, Margarida Ferreira, Rosa Correia, Marina Mota.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 8:00am from the Crapo-Hathaway Home for Funerals, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St Anthony Church, 126 School Street Taunton, burial in St. Joseph cemetery Taunton. Calling hours Monday, April 25, 2005 from 5 – 8 .
