March 08, 1940 - April 19, 2005

Roger D. Eddy, 65, of Richmond Rd., Assonet, died Tuesday at home. He was the husband of the late Donna (Heon) Eddy. Born on March 8, 1940, in Attleboro, he was the son of the late Rodman and Rita (Giles) Eddy. He was a resident of Assonet for the past 16 years. He grew up in Attleboro and resided in Taunton and Norton before moving to Assonet. He was a graduate of Attleboro High School.

Mr. Eddy was the owner of the former Deltrac Landscaping Co. in Norton and also worked as a truck driver for the Delfano Trucking and KG Moore companies in Plainville. He recently had worked for the Borges Co. in Assonet.

He was a member of the Middleboro/Lakeville Knights of Columbus Council No. 223 in Middleboro, and also enjoyed joining with his late father in the activities of the Norton Veteran of Foreign Wars. Mr. Eddy enjoyed flying and held a pilot’s license. He particularly enjoyed restoring antique cars and trucks. He took special pride in his restoration of a 1959 Ford Ranchero. His true passion was his interest in the Civil War. He was an avid reader on any and all books about the Civil War and had an encyclopedic memory for the history of the Civil War.

Roger’s ultimate devotion was to his family. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to many faces.

He is survived by a son, Tracy A. Eddy, of Assonet, and Tracy’s fiancé, Lynn Morgan, of Lakeville, a daughter, Lorynda R. Eddy, of Assonet. His loving companion, Judy Casiello, of Assonet. Two grand-daughters, Amanda and Leishla, and a sister June Crumb, of Rhode Island. He was the brother of the late Earl A. Eddy, Joanne Brancs, and Joan Eddy. He is also survived by a special cousin, Michael Santos, of Attleboro, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 10:00 am from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main Street, Attleboro, (508) 222-0498, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 155 North Main St. Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, West St. Attleboro. Calling hours will be Saturday from 9:00-10:00 am prior to the service.
