John R. Gamache, 41, of New Bedford died unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital Sunday, March 13, 2005. He was the husband of Michelle L. (Means) Gamache.

Born January 5, 1964 in New Bedford, the son of the late Raymond L.Gamache, Sr. and Florence C. (Duchesneau) Gamache of Fairhaven, he grew up in Fairhaven and had been living in New Bedford for the last 15 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fairhaven.

Mr. Gamache graduated from The New Bedford Vocational School. He enjoyed fresh water fishing with his son. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, and infectious laugh. His greatest pride and joys were his children Jenna and Patrick. He was happiest when he was with them and Michelle. He was kind and generous and always willing to lend a helping hand. He also had a special affection for the elderly.

He is survived by his widow; his mother, a maternal grandmother, Leona B. (Fleurent) Duchesneau of Fairhaven; a daughter, Jenna Gamache of New Bedford; a son, Patrick Gamache of New Bedford; three sisters, Miriam E. Manley of New Bedford, Martha A. Guillotte of New Bedford, and Kristin F. Robidoux of Fairhaven; three brothers, Raymond L. Gamache, Jr. of Fairhaven, Matthew A. Gamache of Fairhaven, and his twin brother, James G. Gamache of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-8 PM.
