Anthony R. Andrade

View Tribute and Sign Guestbook Anthony R. Andrade Sr., 80 of Stevens Rd., Swansea, died Thursday at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Edith (Feijo) Andrade. They were married on June 21, 1947.
Born on August 9, 1924, in Swansea, he was a son of the late Enrico and Florence (Perry) Andrade. He was a lifelong resident of Swansea.
Mr. Andrade was a WWII veteran, having served in the United Sates Navy. He was very proud of his service to his country.
He worked for 23 years with the Teamsters Union as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He worked for several years for Youngs Motor Truck Service in Taunton, and for over 15 years with the D.J. Cronin Company in East Providence.
Mr. Andrade then worked for the town of Swansea Highway Department for 11 years, retiring from there in 1987.
He was a communicant of St. John of God Church in Somerset.
Mr. Andrade was a member of the James L. and John E. Lynch Post 8500 Somerset VFW. He served as a member of the post honor guard and founded a post drum and bugle corps which he managed for 7 years. He was also a member of the Swansea Post 303 American Legion.
Mr. Andrade enjoyed working on his farm in Swansea and felt a deep affection for the beauty of the land.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Catabia, of Dighton, two sons, Anthony R. Andrade Jr., of Somerset, and David J. Andrade, of Fall River, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Enrico and Jordan Andrade, and the late Irene House. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
Calling hours Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 PM. His funeral will be Monday at 8:00 am from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. John of God Church, 996 Brayton Ave., Somerset. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
