BOSTON – Thomas G. Wax, 60, of New Bedford, died Friday, February 8, 2008, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, after a long illness. He was the longtime companion of the late Shawneen Costa. Born in Boston, the son of the late Mary Wax, he lived in New Bedford for the past thirty years. Mr. Wax received his Associate’s degree from Bristol Community College and his Bachelor’s degree from University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, working as a counselor at various agencies in the area. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and later worked at Peggy’s Sober House for ten years prior to undertaking his counseling work. He attended the International Church of the Nazarene in New Bedford. He is survived by numerous friends, including Mark Almeida, Donna DeBurgo and Steven Rodriguez, and Rocky, his dog. Funeral InformationCalling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00PM in THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, to whose care funeral arrangements have been lovingly entrusted. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, February 15, 2008, at 9:00AM in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. |
