Robert Botelho, 77, of Fairhaven passed away February 1, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Diane (Despres) Botelho whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
He lived his life in Fairhaven and worked as a Quality Control Director at Acushnet Rubber, Haskon Corp. and Acushnet Company. Robert also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1962. He was happiest when with family and at Twin Rivers. An avid sports fan, Robert was very proud of being part of the 1956-57 Fairhaven High football team, being inducted into the Hall of Fame and coaching numerous sports teams including the Fairhaven Boys Club Basketball Championship.
Sadly, his eldest son Christopher passed away on February 8, 2017, one week after his father’s passing. Robert is survived by his wife; two sons, Kevin Botelho and his wife Traci, and Robert Botelho and his wife Tammy; a daughter, Amanda Botelho; Christopher’s, wife Karen Botelho; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and his sister, Dolores (Botelho) Benoit.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Robert and Christopher Botelho on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11am in St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven.
Arrangements are by the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven.
