Carmel Joseph., 81, of Cypress Drive in Swansea passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Charlton Memorial Hospital Fall River. He was the husband of fifty-eight years to Emily (Shaker) Joseph.

Mr. Joseph was born in Fall River, MA on November 2, 1924 the son of the late Assad and Mary (Deb-Henein) Joseph, he was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School class of 1943, he then went on to serve his country during WWII with the Untied States Army and was a purple heart recipient, he was a Prisoner of War and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he went to work for the United States Post office in the main office in Fall River for thirty two years before retiring in 1980. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony of the Desert Church in Fall River and also a member of the Lebanese American Society, and the Over The Hill Gang, most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors are a daughter Patricia A. Goldman of Olney, Maryland, Andrew C. Joseph of Somerset, MA, a sister Ruth Lescault of Tiverton, RI a brother Marcel P. Joseph of Saint Augustine, Florida two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Henry Joseph.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 8am from the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, MA followed by a mass of the Divine Liturgy at 9am in Saint Anthony of the Desert Church 300 North Eastern Ave., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow with Military Honors in Mount Hope Cemetery Swansea. Calling hours with video photo album are Friday, November 11, 2005 from 4-7pm.
