FALL RIVER – Kenneth DeCosta, 50, of Fall River, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at his residence, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Fall River, the son of Ruth A. (Pacheco) Stringer of Lockport, NY, and the late John DeCosta, he was the husband of Cheryl (Calvano) DeCosta, to whom he was married twenty-five years.
Mr. DeCosta attended Joseph Case High School in Swansea and served his country with the United States Army. He worked for the Gold Medal Bakery in Fall River as a truck driver for the past eight years, was a member of the Baptist Temple in Fall River, and an avid hunter and fisherman. His true joy was spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Mr. DeCosta is survived by his stepfather, Everett W. Stringer of Lockport, NY; a daughter, Danielle L Lachapelle of Fall River; three sons, Derrick L. Calvano of Somerset, MA, Ryan J. DeCosta of New Bedford, MA, and Kenneth B. DeCosta of Lancaster, OH; three sisters, Barbara Gaboriau of Fall River, MA, Pamela McGrath of Marina Del Rey, CA, and Sharon Melton of Holland, MI; three brothers, Peter J. DeCosta of England; John A. Morrow of Fall River, MA, and Richard J. Pacheco of Fall River, MA; and brother of the Late John DeCosta, six grandchildren: Aiden, Brady, Damon, Chase, Sophia, and Jorja; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at 2:00PM in the Baptist Temple, 700 North Eastern Ave., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
