ATTLEBORO – Mildred Gazzola, 96, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, formerly of Attleboro, died on May 8, 2007, in Chandler, AZ. She was the wife of the late Raymond P. Gazzola, who died in 1999. She was born and raised in Attleboro, a daughter of the late George T. and Alvina (Sampson) Levis.

Mrs. Gazzola was a Registered Nurse for many years, working on the staff of the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School with the Class of 1928, and the Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with the Class of 1932. She was a former communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church and a CCD teacher at the school. She also served as a clerk and Temporary Probation Officer for the Fourth District Court in Attleboro.

She leaves two sons Dr. Peter G. and his wife Paula Gazzola of Sun Lakes, AZ, and James McQuaid of Attleboro; four grandchildren, Laura Kohler, Karen Slater and Michele Marquis and Michael McQuaid; and four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Carolyn Rose. She was the sister of the late Joseph, George and Mary E. Levis, Theresa Sullivan, Adele Plattner and Agnes Brennan.

“Mildred possessed the master emotion of empathy. Her life was one of selflessness and her giving was constant and continuous and she lived a life of unconditional love.”

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 10:00AM in St. John Cemetery, West St., Attleboro, followed by a light lunch in St. John's Parish Hall, 133 North Main St., Attleboro.
