View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NEW BEDFORD – Marie A. Lamontagne, 92, of New Bedford, died Monday, March 19, 2007, after a long illness at the New Bedford Health Care Center. Born May 10, 1914, in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Alphee and Lumina (Aubin) Lamontagne. After living in France for thirteen years, she returned to New Bedford and worked at Aerovox as a solderer for twenty years, and then worked for the Sta-Lastic Manufacturing Company in the packing department for eight years.
Miss Lamontagne was a communicant of Saint Joseph-Saint Therese Church and was a member of the Legion of Mary.
She is survived by three nieces, Doris LeBlanc of New Bedford (her longtime caregiver), Muriel Couture of Mattapoisett, and Rachel Schiffman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four nephews, Rene and Leo Lamontagne, both of New Bedford, and Claude and Albert Lamontagne, both of Florida. Miss Lamontagne was the sister of the late Marle Fredette, and Albert, Leo, Maurice and Roland Lamontagne.
Funeral Information
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 9:00AMm from the DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Saint Joseph-Saint Therese Church, Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Street. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
