Helen E.(Stevens) George, 102 years old died at her home in Norfolk,VA on April 1, 2006. She was born in Guilford,CT on Oct 5 1903 daughter of the late Herbert and Ruth (Plaskett) Stevens. She is the widow of Guy Bowen and John George. She was active for over 70 years in the Salvation Army as a local officer, Jr Sgt Maj; she owned with her father a restaurant called Helen's and Dad's. She was a active member and support of Union Missions Ministries in Norfolk, VA and enjoyed painting, reading, crocheting and sewing. She was the mother of Elizabeth Miene of Norfolk and Robert Bowen of FL and the late Charles and Harold Bowen, Bertha Muprhy, Jeannie and Margie Bowen, and sister of the late Lilian Layne, Grace Woodin, Violent Lambert, Laura Stevens, Ernest, Gruden and Donald Stevens; grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother of several and aunt of several.

Funeral Information

Funeral service will be held in the Memorial United Methodist Church, 176 Somerset Ave., (route 138 South) Taunton on Friday at 10AM. Interment Mt Hope Cemetery, Boston,MA. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8PM in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South) Taunton, MA
