Brenda E. (Spence) Ramsay, 86, of Fall River, formerly of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the Fall River Jewish Home. She was the wife of sixty-seven years to Charles V. Ramsay Jr.
Brenda was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late James W. and Ivy (Isherwood) Spence. She was a graduate of the BMC Durfee High School class of 1949. Mrs. Ramsay devoted her life to raising her family. She also enjoyed oil painting, baking and was known for her lemon meringue pies.
Survivors besides her husband are a daughter: Susan Ayers of Fall River and her partner Thomas L. Cotter Jr. of East Freetown; two sons: Kenneth Ramsay and his wife Karen Edwards of Little Compton and Stephen Ramsay of New Bedford; her beloved granddaughter: Krystyna Ayers of Fall River; two brothers: John Spence of North Kingstown; and Benjamin Spence of Daytona Beach Shores, FL; along with several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Gerry Ayers Jr. and sister of the late Rhoda Boothroyd, Ivy Wilbur, William, Robert and Richard Spence.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Ramsay will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at 10am, in the Congregational Christian Church, 1411 County Street, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson Street, Fall River.
