View Tribute and Sign Guestbook TAUNTON – Ernest G. Magoon, 71, died Sunday, October 4, 2009, in Morton Hospital in Taunton, following a period of failing health. Born in Murrells Inlet, SC, the son of the late Leroy and Helen (Wells) Magoon, he was the husband of Mary Lou (Shaw) Magoon.
Mr. Magoon graduated from Hindesdale High School in New Hampshire and attended Massosit Community College and received his degree from Northeastern University in Boston. A veteran of the U. S. Air Force during the Viet Nam era, Mr. Magoon was employed as a research and development engineer at the Hazelton Corporation in Boston and for Heath Consultants in Stoughton. He was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Taunton. He enjoyed electronics, computers, photography, leather crafting, food and building a sailboat and sailing with his son, flying kites on the beach with his family, playing his Banjo and making music.
Besides his wife Mary Lou, he is survived by his children, three daughters, Heidi Magoon-Connor of Colorado Springs, CO, Bonnie Magoon- Kothari of Lowell, MA, and Colleen Markow of Carver, MA, and A. Shawn Magoon of Thornton, NH. Ernie was the grandfather of Angela and Alison Magoon, Rikhav and Hamel Kothari and Jenna Markow. He was the brother of Pat Akeley of VT, Margaret York of NC, Nancy Lackey of AZ, and David Magoon of Westfield, MA; as well as the uncle of several.
Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 9:30 AM in Holy Rosary Church, 80 Bay St., Taunton. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements by Sowiecki Funeral Home, 69 West Britannia Street, Taunton.
