View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER – Milton Katzman, 85, of Fall River, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Nathan and Sarah (Rosenbloom) Katzman, he was the husband of Mae (Schneider) Katzman, to whom he was married sixty-one years.
A graduate with the Class of 1941 of BMC Durfee High School, Mr. Kaztman served country his during WWII with the United States Army Air Corps. He was a ball turret gunner on a B-24 bomber, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he worked for the former Arkay Pants Company as a clothing designer for men’s outer wear, retiring in 1988.
Mr. Katzman was a very active member of Adas Israel Synagogue in Fall River, serving as its past treasurer. He was also the treasurer for the brotherhood at the synagogue. He was quite involved as a quarter master and member of the Jewish War Veterans Local 168 in Fall River, and very active on the state level with the war veterans. A member of the War Vets Council in Fall River, Mr. Katzman was also Deputy for the VAVS at the Brockton VA Hospital, in which he coordinated visits, snacks, and entertainment.
Survivors beside his wife of sixty-one years are two daughters, Eileen H. Dumont and husband Leo of Fall River, and Nancy B. Neddermeyer of New Rochelle, NY; a son, Sheldon S. Katzman and his wife Joanne of Holyoke, MA; a sister, Lorraine Kaplan of Las Vegas; a brother, Ret. Lt. Col. Harold Katzman of Las Vegas; six grandchildren, Craig, Elisha, Marc, Ryan, Deborah, Emily; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Kyle; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 11:00AM in Adas Israel Synagogue, 1647 Robeson St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow with MILITARY HONORS in the Hebrew Cemetery, Fall River. A memorial observance will be held at the family home, 139 Hudson St., Fall River, Tuesday from 6:00-8:00PM, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00-4:00PM and 6:00-8:00PM, respectively.
