TAUNTON–Sheila A. (Carty) Machado, 70, died in St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford, Thursday, March 5, 2009. Born in Newport, RI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Cunniff) Machado, she was the widow of Manuel Machado.

A resident of Highland Court in Taunton for more than thirty years, Mrs. Machado was a retired human services provider for various governmental agencies for many years. She enjoyed reading, was a Red Sox fan, but most of all, her family was the most important aspect of her life.

She was the mother of Stephen Machado of Newport, RI, Joseph Machado of Taunton, Sean Machado of Ohio, Kevin Machado of Taunton, and was the mother of the late Lisa Machado and Brian Machado. She was the grandmother of Jessica, Sarah, Spenser, Ruby, Matthew, Brandon, Jesse and Charlie Machado. She was also the sister of Michael Carty of Quincy.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Saturday, March 14, 2009, in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, from 12 Noon to 2:00PM. Interment will be at the convenience of her family.
