View Tribute and Sign Guestbook MARION – Evelyn F. (Avilla) Irwin, 85, of Fairhaven and formerly of Dartmouth, died Wednesday. Apriil 16, 2008, at the Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion. She was the wife of the late Clifford Irwin. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonio and the late Isabelle (Vincent) Avilla, she grew up in Fairhaven and was a graduate of Fairhaven High School. She lived in Dartmouth her married life and returned to Fairhaven four years ago.
Mrs. Irwin had worked at the Star Store downtown prior to working as a sales manager at the Outlet Department Store in the Dartmouth Mall until its closing. She enjoyed spending time with the gals upstairs at McGann Terrace and making kale soup for friends and family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Clifford L. Irwin and his wife Paulette of New Bedford; a daughter, Carolynn G. Curcio and her husband Nicolas of Fairhaven; a sister-in-law, Ruth Priscilla Avilla of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Kelly Ann O’Conner and her husband Michael and Kristin Rossi and her husband Peter, all of Fairhaven, and Erik H. Irwin and Elizabeth M. Irwin, both of New Bedford; four great-grandchildren, Kathryne and Samantha Olsen, Chelsea O’Conner and Kacey McKenna; and a nephew and two nieces. Mrs. Irwin was the sister of the late Charles and Anthony Avilla.
Funeral Information
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 10:30AM in THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
