Gordon Entwhistle

View Tribute and Sign Guestbook LONG MEADOW, MA – Gordon Entwistle, 90, formerly of Dartmouth, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at the Long Meadow Jewish Nursing Home after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Alice (Souza) Entwistle. Born in North Adams, MA, the son of the late Frank and the late Lilian (Taylor) Entwistle, he lived in the greater New Bedford area most of his life. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in New Bedford and a member of its choir.
Mr. Entwistle served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and later worked as a custodian for twenty years for the New Bedford School Department, until his retirement at age 63.
He is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Perusse and her husband Al of Hampden, MA; a son, Donald S. Entwistle and his wife Patricia of Bridgeport, WV; two sisters, Freda Ward of Massapequa, NY, and Ruth Roberts of New Bedford; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Entwistle was the brother of the late Harold and Robert Entwistle, Irene Murray and Ida VanCour.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 8:00AM from THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, New Bedford. Interment will be in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours will be held Friday, June 27, from 2:00-4:00 and from 7:00-9:00PM in the funeral home.
