ALMOND, LAURA M., 49, of Oviedo passed away at home on Sunday, May 6, 2007 following a valiant 10 month battle against pancreatic cancer. At her side at her passing was her husband of 29 years, Karl Almond of Oviedo. Born in Fall River MA, she was the seventh child of Norbert McKenna (deceased) and Rose McKenna of Swansea MA. In addition to her husband and mother, Laura was survived by her daughter Dana Bach and son in law Johnathon Bach of Oviedo, her ten brothers and sisters; Margaret McKenna of Portsmouth, RI, Patricia Stone of Somerset, MA, Kathy Addison of Las Vegas, NV, Norbert McKenna of Swansea, MA, Christine Stoddard of Sunapee, NH, Joseph McKenna of Norfolk, MA, Matthew McKenna. of Brewster, MA, Douglas McKenna of Berkley, MA, Mary McKenna of Portsmouth, RI and Dorothy Belloni of Springfield, NH, her godson, Devin McKenna of Norfolk, MA as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews. Mrs. Almond was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth (SMU) with a Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting. She grew up in Swansea, MA and relocated to Central Florida in 1995 from Danielson, CT. Laura worked as a bookkeeper and accountant, movie theatre manager, software consultant, and most recently as Administrative Assistant to the Division President of the Orlando Division-Lennar Homes in Maitland, FL where she will be remembered for her inspiring, optimistic and uplifting attitude. As a member of Lennar’s Care Team, she organized and participated in numerous events supporting Orlando area charities including her favorite, Base Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation. She was also a principal in Beautiful Views, SouthEast LLC. Laura was devoted to her family, a wonderful cook, avid romance novel reader as well as a talented crafts person.
