SOMERSET, MA – Richard Kershaw Sr., 82, of Somerset, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Somerset, the son of the late Samuel and Lilly (Fidler) Kershaw, he was the husband of Jeannette (Levesque) Kershaw, with whom he shared a sixty year marriage.

Mr. Kershaw served his country during WWII with the United States Navy. He then worked for Montaup Electric for forty-two years as a yard foreman, retiring in 1990. While working for Montaup, he was a member of the bowling team. Richard enjoyed salt water fishing and clamming.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kershaw is survived by his daughter, Karen A. Talbot of Riverside, RI, his son, Richard Kershaw, Jr., and his wife Deborah of N. Kingstown, RI; a sister, Jenny Carrier of Fall River; a brother, Gilbert Kershaw of Swansea, MA; two grandchildren, Jason and Eric Talbot; two step-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Joseph; four great step-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Ethan, Kyle and Cora Lee; and also by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lilly Ayer, Grace Pickering, Margaret Roy, Ruth Luther, and Samuel and Harry Kershaw.

Funeral Information

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 25, at 10:00am in the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, with burial to follow with MILITARY HONORS in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Monday, May 24, from 5:00-8:00pm in the funeral home.
