Serafim Ferreira

TAUNTON – Serafim Ferreira, 77, died at his home Saturday, May 30, 2009, following a short illness. Born in Taunton, the son of the late Serafim and Mary Jose (Bartel) Ferreira, he was educated in the Taunton Public Schools and was a graduate of the Bristol County Agricultural High School in Segregansett.

He later served his county in the U. S. Navy and retired from the Nissan Automobile Company in Mansfield.

Mr. Ferreira is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo Spencer of Taunton, and Tammy Bonome of San Diego, CA, who has been like a devoted daughter to him for the past twenty-seven years. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ventura and Evelyn Mastromarino, and his brothers, Joseph, George and Raymond Ferreira, all of Taunton, and Robert Ferreira of Raynham. He was the brother of the late Charles, Lewis, Alfred, Edward and James Ferreira. He was also the uncle of many.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, June 4, 2009, at 9:00AM in St Anthony’s Church, 126 School St., Taunton. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting hours for his cremains will be held Wednesday, June 3, from 5:00-8:00PM in the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton.
