Edward Karolczuk, 91, of Swansea, Mass., died peacefully in the comfort of his own home early on Thanksgiving morning, November 23, 2017. He was the widower of Theresa Anna (Forand) Karolczuk. His beloved wife passed away 38 days earlier, on October 16, 2017. They had been married for 71 years, and were deeply devoted to each other.
Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A son of the late Stanislaw (Stanley) Karolczuk and the late Zofja (Sophia) (nee Karas) Karolczuk of Providence, R.I., he was born September 26, 1926, in Providence.
Through the years he lived in Providence and Coventry, R.I.; Nashua, N.H.; New Bedford; and Concord, Calif. He called Swansea home for the last 35 years.
Edward was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific theater. He was a signalman first class aboard the USS LSM-36 and was honorably discharged.
Edward worked as a screen printer, colorist, shift supervisor and plant manager in the textile industry. His places of employment included Nashua Finishing Company, Dartmouth Finishing Company, Cranston Print Works, Duro Textile Company, Franciscan Fabrics, Inc., and Capri Textile Processors. Early in his career he was part owner of Triangle Prints Company in West Warwick, R.I.
His hobbies included coin collecting and working on cars. In his younger years he enjoyed playing golf, boating on his Bali Ha'i, and hunting.
Edward is survived by his six children: Susan Pearson of Novato, Calif.; Edward Karolczuk Jr. and his wife Karen Josefek Karolczuk of New Bedford; Santosha Tantra and her husband James Sacks of Three Rivers, Calif.; Deborah Ananda of Keauhou, Hawaii; Doreen Healy and her husband James Healy of Mount Shasta, Calif.; and Kent Karolczuk and his companion Tracy Tejada of Dighton. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Edward Pearson of Novato. He had twelve grandchildren, one of whom predeceased him, and five great-grandchildren.
Edward was predeceased by all of his siblings, a sister, Janina (Karolczuk) Whyte, and two brothers, George Karol and Frank Karolczuk.
