Maria A. Marques

Maria A. (Borges) Marques, 63, of New Bedford died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Armando Marques.
Born May 10, 1942 in Brava, Cape Verde the daughter of Jose Borges of Cape Verde and the late Alice (Fernandes) Rose, she lived there until moving to New Bedford at the age of 11. She was a member of the International Church of the Nazarene, New Bedford.
Mrs. Marques was a co-owner with her husband of the Lisbon Bakery. She enjoyed cooking, especially cakes and pastaries.

She is survived by three sons, Warren Marques of Las Cruces, NM, Russell Marques of New Bedford, and Jeffrey Marques of New Bedford; a daughter, Vanessa Marques of New Bedford; a sister, Maria Jose Saldariaga, West Palm Beach, FL; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 8:30 AM from the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford followed by a service at 9:30 AM in the International Church of the Nazarene, New Bedford. Internment will be in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling hours are Friday, January 27, 2006 from 5-8 PM..
