Eileen M. (Mazzei) Sanders

NEW BEDFORD – Eileen M. (Mazzei) Sanders, 55, of New Bedford, died Thursday, June 25, 2009, in the Oaks, after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of William B. Sanders, Jr. Born in Yonkers, New York, the daughter of Eileen L. (Burrie) Heine of New Bedford and the late Alfred Mazzei, she grew up in Florida and lived most of her life in Fairhaven, settling in New Bedford seven years ago.

Eileen was a senior assembler at Lockheed Martin, where she had been employed for twenty-five years until her illness.

Beside her husband and mother, she is survived by two daughters, Michelle Sanders of Fall River and Dorrie Sanders of San Diego, CA; a son, William B. Sanders, III, of New Bedford; a sister, Karen St. Germain of New Bedford; two brothers, Phillip Mazzei of Kingston, NY, and Stephen Mazzei of Yonkers, NY; a granddaughter, Olivia Cardona of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Her remains were donated to the Harvard Medical School for research in accordance with her wishes. Arrangements were by THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, July 12, 2009, from 12:00-4:00PM in the Benjamin D. Cushing, VFW Post 2425, on U. S. Rte 6 in Marion.
