View Tribute and Sign Guestbook DIGHTON – Scott F. Paiva, 47 years old, died in Morton Hospital in Taunton on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, after being stricken ill at his home. Born in Fall River, the son of Frank Paiva of Swansea and the late Elaine (Parent) Paiva, he was the husband of Carla A. (Da Conceicao) Paiva of Dighton.
He was educated in the Swansea Public Schools and was a member of the U. S. Coast Guard for eight years, having attended engineering school in Norfolk, VA. He was a employed as a captain for the Massachusetts Correctional facility at Norfolk, MA. He had been employed as a corrections officer for the past nineteen years. Mr. Pavia attended the Dighton Community Church, was a member of the DAV, and enjoyed gardening.
Besides his father and his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Amanda Paiva and Emily Paiva, both of Dighton; and a son, Jeremy Paiva and his wife Jennifer of Rehoboth. He was the brother of Christopher Paiva and Donna Waite and her husband Wes, all of Swansea. He was the grandfather of Noah, Chad and Nathan Paiva. He was the son-in-law of Mary De Conceicao of Fall River and the late Adelino De Conceicao; the brother-in-law of John Da Conceicao and his wife Naomi of Rehoboth; and the uncle of Craig, Ian, and Allison Waite and Ariana De Conceicao.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be held in the Dighton Community Church, Elm and Main Streets, Dighton, on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow the service in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday in the CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, from 4:00-8:00PM.
