Maria P. (Dutra) Faria

Maria P. Faria, 87, of Taunton, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late Jose T. Faria. She was born in Faial, Azores the daughter of the late Manuel and Ana (Pereira) Dutra.

She began working as a seamstress and mid wife in the Azores and came to the United States in 1967 and worked in the manufacturing industry as a machine operator while raising her family. Mrs. Faria was a communicant of the Annunciation of the Lord Church in Taunton. Maria was an avid card player who enjoyed teaching her family how to play all types of card games and she also enjoyed playing bingo. 

Survivors are four daughters: Edith Dias and her husband Mario of Kingsville, MO; Natalie Reilly of Taunton; Aida Faria of Pico, Azores; Lucy Castro and her husband Phil of Lincoln, RI; four sons: Jose Faria of Lisbon; Manuel Faria and his wife Lisa of Raleigh, NC; Luis Faria and his wife Karen of Livermore, CA; and Gabriel Faria of East Bridgewater; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; a sister: Belmira Medeiros of Faial, Azores; four brothers: Jose Dutra of Faial, Azores; Phillip Dutra  and Luis Dutra both of Long Island, NY and Gabriel Dutra of Taunton; along with several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Antonio Faria and sister of the late Manuel Dutra and Antonio Dutra. 

Funeral Information

Calling Hours for Maria will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 8:30 to 9:30am in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am in the Annunciation of the Lord Church, 31 1st Street, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery Taunton. 

Donations Information

Memorial donations in her memory can be made to the Annunciation of the Lord Church.
