View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SWANSEA – Eugene F. Tavares, 61, of Warren Avenue, Swansea, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Antonio & Janet (Cote) Tavares, he was the husband of Vivian (Robidoux) Tavares.
Mr. Tavares was the owner/administrator of the Tavares Pediatric Center in Providence for over twenty-six years. A resident of Swansea since 1972, having come originally from Fall River, Mr. Tavares was a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church in Swansea.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene & Victoria (Majerczak) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a brother and sister-in-law, Antonio & Deborah Tavares of Blackstone, MA. He was the son-in-law of Roland & Gertrude Robidoux of New Bedford; and left many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. He was the father of the late Wendy J. Tavares.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 8:00AM in THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway (Rte 6) Swansea. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 6, from 6:00–8:00PM in the funeral home.
