View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NORTH SMITHFIELD – Marie L. C. (Dionne) Pelletier, 95, of Rhodes Avenue in North Smithfield, died on Friday, December 7, 2007, at the St. Antoine Residence. Born in St. Pacome, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of the late Joseph & Rose–Anna (Levesque) Dionne, she was the wife of the late Adrien Pelletier.
The Dionne family emigrated from Canada to America in 1923 and at age fourteen, Marie began working as a spinner in Woonsocket’s woolen mills. A devout, self-educated woman with determination, she lived a Spirit-filled life. Prior to living at the Saint Antoine residence in North Smithfield, she and her family resided in Providence, Woonsocket, and Lincoln.
Actively involved in their parish, St. James in Manville, she and her husband served as Eucharistic Ministers. She belonged to the Praying Hands Group, the monthly Rosary Group, and the Ladies of St. Anne Society. She was active in the Albion & Manville Golden Agers’ Group. Serving as Chaplain for more than 15 years, she dutifully attended the wakes and funerals of each deceased member. During this time she and her husband were honored as Couple of the Year by the group.
She was the mother and mother-in-law of a son, Gilbert & Patricia Pelletier of New Bedford; three daughters, Claudette Marchand of Orange Park, Florida, Aline & Normand Tondreau of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Solange Lataille of Harrisville. She is also survived by a brother, Joseph Dionne of Quebec, Canada. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Auguste, Raymond, Gerard,Robert, Charles, Gilbert Dionne, Eugenie Fournier, Jeanne Coutu, Juliette Fortin, and Marie–Paule Fortin.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at 10:00AM from THE MENARD FUNERAL HOME, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, RI, to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in the Saint Antoine Residence Chapel, 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield, RI. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5:00–8:00PM in the funeral home.
