Noella L. Yokell

FALL RIVER, MA – Noella L. Yokell, 88, of Nelson Street in Fall River, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late John B. and Alphonsine (LaFrance) Yokel, she was a 1937 graduate of BMC Durfee High School and went on to graduate from the former Thibodeau’s Business School.

Ms. Yokell worked for the City of Fall River in the Board of Health Office, the Treasurer’s Office and the Employment Office at Government Center for a combined twenty-seven years, retiring in 1982. She was a former communicant of Saint Jean Baptiste Church in Fall River and was very active at one time with the CCD and the Children of Mary as a member and past president. She was most recently a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish in Fall River.

Noella enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also helped many people with their taxes over the years and clipped numerous coupons for missionaries.

Survivors include four nieces, Jeanne L. Reis of Fall River, Lorraine Smith of Foxboro, MA, Carol Fiola of North Carolina, and Barbara Delisle of Fall River; four nephews, Henry Yokel of Syracuse, NY; Paul Sullivan of Ventura, CA; and Louis Yokell and Arthur Yokel, both of Fall River; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Blanche Torchia, Clara Gregoire, Alexina Sullivan, Adelard Yokel, Leodore and John Yokell.

Funeral Information

Her funeral service will be held Friday, November 20, 2009, at 9:30AM from the HEBERT-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 945 S. Main St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in Holy Trinity Parish, 951 Stafford Rd., Fall River, with burial to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Thursday, November 19, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
