NEW BEDFORD – Joseph E. Days, 73, of Fairhaven, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. He was the longtime companion of June Little of Fairhaven. Born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late William and the late Anna (Carroll) Days, he lived most of his life in Fairhaven and was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven.

Joe served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and later worked as a commercial fisherman for many years on various area scallopers. He was a member of the American Legion Post #166 of Fairhaven and the New Bedford Fishermans Union.

He is also survived by a daughter, Lynda Little of Fairhaven; a step-daughter, Joann Little of Virginia Beach, VA; a step-son, Steven Little of Fairhaven; a brother, Robert Days of Fairhaven; two sisters, Eileen McCombe of New Bedford and Mary Langevin of California; three grandchildren, Tara, Matthew and Eric; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

His funeral will be Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at 9:00AM from THE FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main Street, Fairhaven, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Fairhaven. Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be private. Calling hours are Monday, August 17, from 5:00-8:00PM in the funeral home.
