Susan M. Barnes

Susan M. (Young) Barnes, 46, of New Bedford died Sunday, April 16, 2006 in her home after a period of declining health. She was the former wife of Brian Barnes of Orlando, FL.
Born July 30, 1959 in Stoughton the daughter of the late John G. Young and Doris J. (Garceau) Taylor, Ms. Barnes grew up in Bridgewater then moved on to Orlando, Florida before moving to New Bedford five years ago. Ms. Barnes attended St. Anthony's Church, New Bedford.
Ms. Barnes worked as a cook at Applebee's in Fairhaven. She also worked as a CNA for the Veteran's Hospital in Brockton.
She is survived by her former husband; her companion, Michael Kearney of New Bedford; her mother in law, Ethel Barnes of Orlando, FL; a daughter, Melanie M. Barnes of New Bedford; three brothers, Charles Young of Brockton, John Young of Montgomery, VT; and Mark Young of Taunton; a brother in law, Jeffrey Barnes of Orlando, FL; three sisters, Carol Nash of St. Albans, VT, Marlene LeGrice of Fairhaven, Anne Doherty of Carver; three grandchildren, Elexis Canzanella, Brittany Lynn, and Zachary Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. She was the Step daughter of the late Paul C. Taylor and the mother of the late Holly A. Barnes.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be Thursday, April 20 at 8:00 AM from the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Interment will be a later date in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Orlando, FL. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 19, 2006 from 4-7 PM.
