Doris M. Barnett

FAIRHAVEN – Doris M. (Johnson) Barnett, 93, of Fairhaven, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, after a long illness, in Royal of Fairhaven, formerly Nichols House, where she resided for the past ten years. She was the wife of the late Charles Barnett and the late Ernest Hobson.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Marietta (Kelley) Johnson, she lived most of her life in Fairhaven and was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fairhaven before entering the nursing home.

Mrs. Barnett was a supervisor for the former New England Telephone Co., where she worked for more than forty years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

She leaves a son, Robert D. Hobson and his wife Jacqueline of Fairhaven; two daughters, Carole H. Kerwin and her husband William of NJ, and Susan J. O’Brien of Marion; seven grandchildren, Holly J. Lemieux and Scott and Tracey Hobson, all of Fairhaven, Kathleen Kelly Kennedy of NJ, William J. Kerwin, IV, of MD, and Stephen and Kevin O’Brien both of Boston; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnett was the mother of the late Paul A. Hobson.

Funeral Information

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 8:30AM in the FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., Fairhaven, followed by interment in River-Side Cemetery, Fairhaven.
