John P. Paulo, Sr. “JP”,79 years old, died in Morton Hospital, Taunton on October 9, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Born in Taunton, son of the late John Paulo Pina and Antonia Rodrigues Perreira. He lost his parents at a early age and was raised by his uncle Joseph Paulo and his aunat Lena Rodrigues Mendes.
He was educated in the Weir section of Taunton and attended the Weir School and Taunton High School. He was employed as a laborer for the Laborers Union Local 876. He was US Navy veteran having served 8 years. He was a member of the American Legion, a Taunton Housing Authority representative, a CYO basketball and baseball coach and he was a member to the John F. Parker Golf Club. He played and coached in the former Taunton Fast Pitch Softball league. He was a avid High School girls softball fan and supported the local high school sports programs. As a father to ten children he stressed strong education and respectful character.
He was the husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Vieira) Paulo of Taunton and father of Doreen Tosti and her husband James of Taunton, Teresa Davis and her husband Karl of VA; Laurie Kimball and her husband Thomas of Taunton; Dianne Huggon and her husband John of Taunton;Mary DeSousa and her husband Manuel of Taunton; Joni Paulo and Daniel Wach of CA;Regina Galarazo and her husband Jaime of Taunton; John “Jay” Paulo,Jr of Taunton; David Paulo of FL and Joseph Paulo and his wife Cheryl of Berkley; grandfather of 21 and great grandfather of 1; brother of Marie Andrews of Buzzards Bay; Sylvina Fernandes of Taunton, Adelino “Pete” Paulo and his wife Vivian of Taunton and the late Adeline Paulo-Pina and Louise Paulo- Pina and uncle of several.
Funeral Information
Funeral services will be held in Annunciation of the Lord Church on Friday at 10AM. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4 to 8PM in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, ( Route 138 South) Taunton. Interment Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton.
