FALL RIVER – Lillian (Buckley) Martin, "Auntie Lolo,” of Fall River, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008, at her sister’s home in Swansea. Born in Fall River, the daughter of Gloria (Cabral) Buckley of Fall River and the late William Buckley, Jr., she was the wife of the late Manuel Martin, Jr., and the late Manuel Ferreira.

A graduate of the Diman Girls School Class of 1961. Mrs. Martin worked in the garment industry in Fall River as a machine operator, and also as a cashier at the former ALMACS grocery store in Swansea, for several years. While working, she also was devoted to raising her family.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the Church of Our Saviour in Somerset, and devoted her time as a volunteer in the Annelle Delorme Hagerman Food Pantry, and the Fall River Community Soup Kitchen. She enjoyed playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader.

Beside her mother, Mrs. Martin leaves two daughters, Stephanie Gluchacki and her husband Alphonse of Riverside, RI, and Robin Ranney and her husband Eugene of Somerset, MA; a son, Michael Martin of Fall River; two sisters, Ann M. Morrissette of Fall River, and Nancy Little of Swansea; four grandchildren, Madison, Benjamin, Sasha, and Sierra. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lillian was the sister of the late Patricia Murphy and William Buckley.

Funeral Information

Her funeral mass with Requiem Eucharist will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Saviour, 2112 County St., Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend by reporting DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
