View Tribute and Sign Guestbook NEW BEDFORD – Dennis R. Hickey, 80, of New Bedford, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at home after a long illness. He was the companion of twenty-three years of Mary George of New Bedford. Born in London, England, the son of the late William and the late Ethel A. (Grace) Hickey, he came from England to Bridgewater in 1958 and settled in New Bedford in 1970.
Mr. Hickey served in the Royal Air Force and later worked as a carpenter for the Robert Silva Construction Co. in Dartmouth until his retirement in 1988.
He is survived by a son, Christopher J. Hickey of London, England; a daughter, Denise R. Hogg of Hertford, England; his companion Mary and her son, Steven M. George; four brothers, Terrence, Patrick, George and Arthur Hickey, all of England; a sister, Alice Elliott of Bridgewater; three grandchildren, James and Robert Hogg and Steven Hickey; and two special nieces, Judy and Donna.
Funeral Information
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and arrangements are under the direction of THE DONAGHY FUNERAL HOME, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
