View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FALL RIVER, MA – Ruth H. (Ferreira) Oliveira, 78, formerly of Fall River, MA, and Tiverton, RI, died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Village House in Newport, RI. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Antone and Gertrude (Michaels) Ferreira, she was the wife of the late Robert Oliveira.
A 1948 graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, Ruth worked for Raytheon as an assembly worker in Portsmouth, RI, and then for the Norgetown Laundry in Fall River, MA, as a clerk for many years. She was a longtime member of Third Baptist Church in Fall River and very active at one time with the church’s Bible study.
Mrs. Oliveira enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. She also loved to solve word search puzzles and was an avid bowler and reader.
She is survived by three daughters, Cindy Garant of Fall River, Linda Schoorens of Keeseville, NY, and Tracy Hull of Orlando, FL; two brothers, David Ferreira of Westport, MA, and Edward Ferreira of Swansea, MA; seven grandchildren, Corey Telles, Sarah Rodrigues, Caleb and Jayel Schoorens, P.J. Acevedo, and Madison and Caden Hull; four great-grandchildren, Madden Telles, Morgan Rodrigues, Jack Rodrigues, and a soon-to-be- born Sadie Telles. She was the sister of the late Geneieve Germaine and Daniel Ferreira.
Funeral Information
A graveside service for Ruth will be held Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 9:00 am in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River, with a memorial service to follow at 10:00 am in the HATHAWAY HOME for FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River.
