Nellie M. (Hughes) Norris, 96, formerly of Maxfield Street, New Bedford, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Alden Court Nursing Home, Fairhaven. She was the widow of Eric Norris.

Born January 14, 1910 in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Albert S. and Minnie Lee (Burgess) Hughes, she moved to New Bedford at the age of five. She was a former member of the South Primitive Methodist Church, New Bedford.
Mrs. Norris was a homemaker.

She is survived three daughters, Winifred L. Sampson of New Bedford, Thelma L. Gray of New Bedford and Eva May Sampson of North Dakota; 18 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; and 23 great great grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Edward S., Richard S., and David L. Chace; and the sister of the late Eva May Olsen.

Arrangements are private and under the direction of the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
