View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SWANSEA – Lorraine D. (Lavoie) Marek, 81, of Clark Lane, Swansea, died Friday, July 17, 2009, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph & Rose (Labouliere) Lavoie, she was the wife of the late Edward J. Marek.
A homemaker, Mrs. Marek was a forty-year resident of Swansea, hailing from her native Fall River. A parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church, she enjoyed gardening, loved animals, and especially enjoyed Saturday evening dinners with her family. She also enjoyed shopping with her sisters, and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Marek is survived by a son, Steven and his wife Kathy of Somerset; two daughters, Karen Treloar and her boyfriend Paul Medeiros of Swansea and Nancy and her husband Michael Cote of Somerset; two sisters, Loretta Lemelin and Germaine Kenney, both of Somerset. She was the grandmother of Jay Treloar, Jill Belisle, Jodie Treloar, Melissa Cote, Katherine Cote, John Cote, and Ryan Marek; and the great-grandmother of Colin Treloar and Andrew Treloar. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Peter Lavoie, Roland Lavoie, Anita Bernier, and Jeannette Myslivy.
Funeral Information
Her funeral will be held Monday, July 20, 2009, at 8:00AM from THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1277 G.A.R. Highway (U. S. Route 6), Swansea, with burial to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 19, from 4:00– 7:00PM.
