FALL RIVER – Walter L. Schlemmer, Sr., 91, of Middle Street, Fall River, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Albert & Abbie (Macomber) Schlemmer, he was married to Pauline S. (Simons) Schlemmer for more than sixty-six years. A life-long Fall River resident, Mr. Schlemmer served in the U S Army during WWII, and was employed as a painter at the Quonset Naval Air Station for more than thirty years, prior to his retirement. A member of the Third Baptist Church in Fall River, where he also served as a deacon, Mr. Schelmmer was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, the Reverend Robert A. Schlemmer of Pioneer, Louisiana; a daughter, Denise Schlemmer of Fall River; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Ann Schlemmer of Phillips, Maine; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Reverend Walter L. Schlemmer, Jr., and the brother of the late Albert E. Schlemmer, Wilfred Schlemmer, Marjorie Henry, and the late Ruth Pulkowski. Funeral InformationHis funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at 10:00AM in the HATHAWAY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00–8:00PM.
