NORTH DIGHTON / TAUNTON – Frederick D. Wilbur, 86, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Taunton, the son of the late Clayton and Ruth (Nichols) Wilbur, he was the husband of the late Jeanne (Trahan) Wilbur. Fred was a 1942 graduate of Taunton High School and attended the former Bristol County Business College. A WW II veteran of the Army, he was also a long-time member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Taunton. From 1942 until 1990 he was Vice President of Dean Brothers Shoe Store on the Taunton Green. Fred was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Taunton Lodge of Elks, a former secretary of the Salvation Army in Dighton, former secretary of the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Corporation, and a former trustee of Morton Hospital. Fred was the father of Linda Casey and her husband Robert of Taunton, Janice Wilbur and her husband James Thomas of Jefferson, MA, Frederick “Danny” Wilbur, Jr., and his companion Sharon Sheehan of Taunton, and also the father of the late Caroline Wilbur. He was the brother of Frances Lincoln of Marietta, GA, Alfred Wilbur and his wife Grace of Concord, NH, and the late Alelaide Kimball. He was the grandfather of David Thomas, Laura Thomas, Sarah Casey and Frederick Wilbur, III, as well as the uncle of several. Funeral InformationRelatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton, Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 2:00-6:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 6:00pm. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
