View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SWANSEA, MA – John D. Valerio, 79, of Swansea, died Sunday, December 6, 2009, at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, surrounded by his family. Born in Portugal, the son of the late Jose D. and Deolinda (Moniz) Valerio, he was the husband of the late Hilda Furtado.
He worked as a foreman for Capaldi Construction for thirty years, retiring in 1992. Mr. Valerio was a communicant of Saint John of God Church in Somerset. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed dancing with his wife over the years. Most of all, John cherished the time he spent with his family.
Mr. Valerio leaves two daughters, Mary G. Perreault and her husband Ken and MaryLou Fluke and her husband Rick, both of Swansea; two sons, John Valerio and his wife Terre of Somerset, MA, and Francis C. Valerio and his wife Sheila of Swansea, MA; a sister, Georgina Pacheco of Fall River; two brothers, Joe Valerio and Luis Valerio, both of Fall River, MA; nine grandchildren, Linda, Joanne, Joshua, Tara, Kayla, Janessa, Lauren, Jenna and Leah; seven great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Derrick, Olivia, Samuel, Tyrin, Gabriela and Dante. He was the brother of the late Gloria Mello, Mary C. Pacheco, Maria Dos Anjos and Manuel Valerio.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held Thursday, December 10, 2009, at 8:00AM from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in Saint John of God Church, 996 Brayton Ave., Somerset, with burial to follow in Vinnicum Woods Cemetery, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours with Video Photo Album will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009, from 4:00-7:00PM in the funeral home.
