View Tribute and Sign Guestbook SWANSEA – Stanley L. Herndon, 57, of Ocean Grove Avenue, Swansea, died on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, a son of Rose A. (Daigle) Herndon of Somerset, and the late Clifton Herndon, he was the husband of Eileen (Costa) Herndon, to whom he was married nineteen years.
Mr. Herndon was a graduate of Somerset High School with the Class of 1968. For over thirty years he was involved with the car business and was co–proprietor of Cliff’s Car Wash on Bedford St. in Fall River. A resident of Swansea since 1987, having relocated from Somerset, he was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Swansea.
Mr. Herndon enjoyed camping, boating, running participating in several marathons), football, and cooking. He was a funny man, who was loved by his many friends and family , as well as his pets, Brandy, Mocha, and Petey.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a brother, William N. Herndon of Somerset; a sister, Barbara Barden of Portsmouth, RI; as well as by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at 8:30AM, from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Burial will follow in the Nathan Slade Cemetery in Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00-700PM in the funeral home.
