View Tribute and Sign Guestbook WARREN, RI – Delphis "Del" Daigneault, 84, of Luther St., died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Born in Warren, a son of the late Delphis & Leosa (Simard) Daigneault, he was the husband of Patricia (Bullock) Daigneault and the late Florence (Doherty) Daigneault.
Del was a member of the Warren Police Department for over twenty-five years before retiring in 1980 with the rank of Inspector. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving during WWII as a Navy Corpsman. A lifelong resident of Warren, he was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church. He belonged to the American Legion Post 11 and the VFW Post 122. He was also a retired member of the Massasoit Hook and Ladder Fire Company of the Warren Fire Department.
He was the head acolyte at his church for many years and was very active in the church. An avid tennis player, coach and fan, he organized and taught tennis for the Warren Recreation Board, and Kenbrin Swim & Tennis Co. of Riverside, RI. Del was inducted into the Warren Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two stepsons, David A. Barboza of Rumford, RI, and Daniel A. Barboza of Warren; and one granddaughter, Stephanie R. Barboza of Warren.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 9:00AM from the Wilbur–Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 2, from 4:00–8:00PM in the funeral home.
