View Tribute and Sign Guestbook FAIRHAVEN – The Rev. Robert Earl Heskett, 78, of Fairhaven, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at home following a long illness. He was the husband of Beverley (Brown) Heskett. Born in Bangor, Maine, the son of the late John R. and the late Jessie (MacLeod) Heskett, he settled in the area in 1970.
The Rev. Mr. Heskett was the Pastor of the First Baptist Church and Eden Baptist Church in Bar Harbor, ME, and the Roslindale Baptist Church in Boston, prior to becoming the Pastor of the First Baptist Church in New Bedford, which latter congregation he served from 1970-1975. The Rev. Mr. Heskett was the Program Director for the Inter Church Council of Greater New Bedford from 1975-1983. He also served as a psychologist for the Center of Health and Human Services, a therapist and program director for the Adult and Outpatient Alcohol Clinic, as well as the program coordinator for Offender Services. The Rev. Mr. Hesketh was also the founder and Executive Director of the Community Center for Non-Violence, Inc. and Family Nonviolence, Inc.
Beside his wife, he leaves three sons, David R. Heskett of Kingston, RI, Bruce S. Heskett of Nashua, NH, and James L. Heskett of Derwood, MD; a daughter, Sharon R. Heskett of Havertown, PA; a brother, Gerald Heskett; and four sisters, Pauline E. Michaud, Shirley L. Caron, Mary Thomas and Geraldine Grenier, all of Maine; and six grandchildren.
Funeral Information
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 10, 2010, at 2:00PM in the First Congregational Church of Fairhaven. Interment will be private.
