James M. Wallace

May 25, 1938 - February 06, 2006

James M Wallace, 67 years, died in Taunton on Feb 6 2006 after a long illness. Born in New Bedford, son of the late Irving and Delores ( DeCosta) Wallace. A Graduate of Berkley Grammar School and Dighton High Vocational School, class of 1956, he began his automotive career as a auto mechanic for McAdam Ford in Taunton. For a brief period he worked for Skyview Motors in Brockton and a GM Dealership in Newton. He became a Regional Automotives Service Rep for Volkswagon of North America (VOA) and lived in Walpole, Dedham and Portland,ME. While with VOA he conducted classes in automotive technological advances and service procedures for Volkswagon dealers in the Northeast. He owned a Volkswagon dealership in Fall River known as Fall River Motors. He later owned a motorcycle dealership, Bristol Suzuki and hand tool distributiorship for MAC tools known as Wallace Tool,Inc, and a lawn and garden center where he sold and repaired equipment made by Simplicity. His last business venture involved a land mining and development project known as Wallace Estates in Berkley where he made his home for the last 32 years. He served in the US Army and enjoyed auto racing and worked as a pit crew member for stock car racing now known as NASCAR. He is survived by a son Michael J Wallace of Berkley, 2 daughters Judi-Ann Gilbert of York,PA and Laura J Slade of Chatham,MA; 6 grandchildren and 2 brothers Irving ( Frank) Wallace,Jr of Berkley and Rev Gene R. Wallace of Pasadena,CA.

Funeral Information

Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., (Route 138 South) Taunton on Thursday from 5-8PM. Private family funeral services will be held on Friday.
