SOMERSET – Mary H. (Morro) Joaquin, 97, of Murphy Village, Read Street, Somerset, died Friday, April 6, 2007, at the Highlander Nursing Home in Fall River. Born in Swansea, a daughter of the late Joseph & Mary (Silveira) Morro, Ms. Joaquin resided in Somerset since 1969, having relocated from Swansea.

Ms. Joaquin was employed as a housekeeper for several families in the area, and also worked as an examiner for the Darwood Manufacturing Company for many years before retiring thirty years ago. She was a parishioner of St. John of God Church, Somerset.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Botelho of Fall River; two sisters, Florence Rapoza of Fall River, and Rose Cataivia of Swansea; two grandchildren and three great-grandsons. She was the mother of the late Arthur Cabral, and the sister of the late Joseph Morro, Andrew Morro, Manuel Morro, Frank Morro, Alfred Morro, John Morro.

Funeral Information

Her funeral will be held Thursday, April 12, 2007, at 8:00AM from the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. John of God Church, 996 Brayton Avenue, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Somerset. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00–8:00PM.
