FAIRHAVEN – Francis V. "Vinnie" Faria, IV, 47, of Fairhaven, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at home after a long illness. Born in New Bedford, the son of Francis V. Faria, III, of New Bedford, and Katherine R. (Roberts) Faria of Fairhaven, he was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven. He attended Fairhaven High School.

A commercial fisherman for many years, Mr. Faria was a cook and a deck hand on various area vessels, mainly on the Fishing Vessel Victor. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed fishing, swimming, going to Fort Phoenix, and especially spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Robert P. Faria of New Bedford; a sister, Karen E. Faria of Fairhaven; two uncles, Joseph Jason and his wife Beth of Somerset, and Alfred Faria and his wife Dolores of New Bedford; a godchild and niece, Tarrah Baptista, and a nephew, Michael V. Faria, both of Dartmouth; a grandnephew Talen J. LeBlanc; and a grandniece, Hay-lee C. Faria; and several close cousins.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at 10:00AM in St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven. Interment will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5:00-8:00PM in the FAIRHAVEN FUNERAL HOME, 117 Main St., Fairhaven.
