BERKLEY–Donald C. “Donnie” Taber, 54, died in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston Thursday, August 6, 2009, after being stricken suddenly ill. Born in New Bedford son of the late Henry and Elsie (Borgess) Taber, he was the husband of Mary Lou (Robidoux) Taber.

Donnie was educated in the New Bedford Public Schools and was a 1973 graduate of New Bedford High School. He was also a graduate of Bristol Community College. He was an owner and vice president of P. T. I. in the Taunton Industrial Park for ten years. Previously he was employed at Mini Systems in Plainville and at Isotronics.

Mr. Taber enjoyed playing golf and was an ardent fan of the New York Yankees and the Oakland Raiders. He enjoyed watching his son wrestle for Somerset High School and watching his daughter sing with the Somerset Show Choir. A communicant of St Bernard’s Church in Assonet, he had been a resident of Berkley for more than twenty years.

In addition to his wife, Mary Lou (Robidoux) Taber, Donnie is survived by his children, Elizabeth Rea Taber and Matthew Russell Taber, all of Berkley. He was the brother of Jan Marie Bardsley and her husband Richard of New Bedford and the late Hank Taber of Fairhaven. He was the brother-in-law of Carol Taber of Fairhaven, the son-in-law of Ray and Bernice Robidoux of Dartmouth, and the uncle of several.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard’s Church, 32 S. Main St., Assonet, Monday, August 10, 2009, at 9:45AM. Interment will be in Fox Cemetery, Berkley. Visiting hours will be Sunday, August 9, from 4:00-8:00PM in THE CRAPO-HATHAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South), Taunton.
